UAM opens doors to science for teens at First International Youth Campus UAM opens doors to science for teens at First International Youth Campus ========================================================================== CIVIS Highlights 30 Σεπτεμβρίου 2025 The Universidad Autonoma de Madrid has organised the first edition of the *International Youth Campus* summer school, an initiative that opens the doors of the university to young people aged between 15 and 17, with the aim of bringing them closer to the world of science and awakening their interest in research. The students explored the fascinating world of technology, experiments and creative challenges. ![](/storage/files/highlight-september-2025-2.jpg) ©UAM The programme for the UAM 2025 International Youth Campus included a wide variety of activities, from interactive workshops to cultural and sporting activities, as well as visits to laboratories and research centres - such as the Particle Accelerator and the Scientific Computing Centre. Over the course of five days, the group of participating students explored first-hand the academic, scientific and social environment of an internationally renowned university. The meetings with research staff and university students gave the participants the opportunity to interact with the university community, share experiences and ask questions about academic life. Discovering their true calling while having fun and making new friends ---------------------------------------------------------------------- With interactive activities, games and hands-on workshops, the students were given a hand in discovering their true calling, while having fun and making new friends. The activities offered by the campus introduced the students to many different disciplines in an entertaining way. ![](/storage/files/highlight-september-2025-3.jpg) ©UAM The visitors could: - visit an archaeological dig; - build a robot; - learn how a particle accelerator works; - discover new uses for AI; - enjoy mind-blowing optical illusions; - understand the SDGs; - learn how to eat a healthy diet; - improve the world through science, innovation or education. The students also visited nearby towns, and even had fun at the campus swimming pool.
